Favorite Spot for Garden Thinking

I imagine every gardener has a favorite spot for daydream planting in the middle of winter.
This is my favorite spot for stretching out with a stack of gardening books and plant catalogs.

And now that we have our lot graded,

(truckloads of soil delivered, spread, and raked into place!),
it's so much easier to begin to imagine those garden rooms.

Below is the back corner where I am planning that herb and vegetable garden.
It's long and narrow, sits about four feet below the pool decking, and can be accessed by two stairways.

There's a bumelia tree next to the buried propane tank. Not a good place to plant, but perhaps a fine spot for a picnic table/prep area?  We have piles of left-over stone to well the tree and to support a raised bed around the drop-off between the staircases - can't have people tumbling into the herbs!
I had some friends brain-storming this area with me over the weekend - such a great help!

And lots to think about!

  1. Omgosh, Suzanne! Look at the view!!! If you ever need a house sitter, let me know. I'll water and weed your garden, too. Very exciting! Have fun planning the garden.
    Cheers,
    Loi
